Link for ballet music...:)

As promised, here is the link for the music we have been using in our ballet classes this spring.  "Pavane" music is tradional court dance music used in England during the 16th and 17th centuries...

http://www.amazon.com/Pavane-Shelley-Phillips/dp/B000005C35

For the particular selection that your child's ballet class is using, please ask his or her instructor...:)

An artist's review of this musical selection:
"If you enjoy traditional/baroque folk music of the British Isles, unadorned by vocals, and sparsely orchestrated so that each note shines through, this music deserves your rapt attention. I would compare this to the best of British 16th and 17th Century "roots" music from the likes of The Broadside Band, Hesperus, Chatham Baroque and the Baltimore Consort - which is distinguished company to be in indeed!   Even the numerous very upbeat pieces have a certain gentle refinement to them that transports one to imaginary Elizabethan times."

The artist, Shelley Phillips, whose talents include playing the harp, recorder, oboe, English horn and whistle,  received her M.M. from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. In addition to performing and recording in the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Areas, she is director of the Santa Cruz Community Music School. She is a member of the Narnian Consort, Coulter/Phillips Ensamble, the Shaker Ensemble and the Anjali Quartet.  We are delighted to listen and share her music.  You can purchase her music at the link above...:)

Meet us at the ballet barre for a great class...:)

Have you always wanted to feel like a dancer, with beautiful posture that only comes from a strong core?  Longing for strong tight glutes as well?  Join us for our "Ballet Conditioning" class, based on ballet barre exercises and core strengthening exercises to train you in the way a dancer trains.

After the 10 minute center port de corps warm up, we complete a 30 minute barre, then we return to center for 15 minutes to train our glutes and core, and stretch it all out with 20 minutes of a yoga based balance and stretch.

This fun class will focus on glutes, abs, lower back, inner and outer thighs, as well as hamstrings, quads, calves, shins, and the upper body.  Classes are held Tuesday mornings at 5:45 a.m., and Friday mornings at 9:30, and last one hour and 15 minutes.  You may sign up for one class or both, tuition for an 8 week session is 100.00 attending twice a week, 75.00 attending once (you must indicate whether you choose Tuesday OR Friday on your registration form).  Please know that this class is not designed to change your body with a once a week class, but the knowledge you will gain with exercises and posture and muscular awareness will  give you options for exercises you can perform within your own workouts on your off days from class.

Drop ins are allowed if space is available, for a charge of 12.00 per class.

Please speak with Studio Director and instructor of the class, Janine Fraser for more details...inlandnwballet@aol.com or 467-0765

We also have a possible Tuesday evening class in the works, please speak with studio director Janine Fraser if interested.
